Moscow International Congresses “Biotechnology: State of the Art and
Prospects of Development” and International Specialized Exhibition “Biotech
World” held by the Organizing Committee in 2002, 2003 and 2005 aroused
wide response in the world of scientific-technical and business society
and showed actuality and necessity of regular conducting in Russia of
global scientific forums for different branches of biotechnology. These
congresses convincingly prove that Russian Federation has good fundamental
basis in all branches of up-to-date biotechnology and big prospects
of its further development in Russia.
In March 12-16, 2007 there have been held Moscow International Congress,
organized by The Russian Academy of Sciences, The Government of Moscow,
The Ministry of Science and Education of Russia, Russian Academy of
Medical Sciences, Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Russian
Union of Chemists, Russian Chemical Society of D. Mendeleyev, JSC “Expo-biochim-technologies”.
The program of the IV Moscow International Congress “Biotechnology:
State of the Art and Prospects of Development” (held in March 12-16,
2007, in the House of Moscow Government by address: Novy Arbat Str.,
36/9) included 3 congress plenary sessions: “Fundamental researches
and biotechnology”, “Biosafety and bioethics”, Final Plenary Session,
as well as 10 thematic sections: “Biotechnology and Medicine”, “Biotechnology
and Agriculture”, “Biotechnology and Industry”, “Biotechnology and Environment”,
“Biotechnology and Food”, “Biocatalysis and biocatalytic technologies”,
“Biogeotechnologies”, “Innovations, finances and business”, “Bioinformatics”.
Besides, in the framework of the sections “Biotechnology and Medicine”,
“Biotechnology and Agriculture”, “Innovations, finances and business”
were held 2-3 seminars for the relevant specialization.
In the framework of the Congress there have been held 4 international
symposia:

All the sessions of the congress had large audience.
Traditionally there have been held the contest of young scientists –
biotechnologists. If at the III Congress there had been collected 50
applications for the participation in the contest, for the IV Congress
there have been sent 100 application forms, among them 10 participants
have been rewarded with money grants, 38 – with medals and diplomas
